Leeds is a vibrant, cosmopolitan City unrivalled as a shopping destination and centre for entertainment, the arts and great nights out. It's also a great location for your next business event. Since 1992 £3bn has been invested, or is in the pipeline, for regenerating leisure facilities in the city centre. In 2002 alone Radisson SAS (150 bedrooms/8 meeting rooms), Shire Inns' Thorpe Park Hotel (123 bedrooms/12 meeting rooms), Novotel Leeds Centre (195 bedrooms/9 meeting rooms) and Eton Town House's 'Quebecs' (46 bedrooms) all opened. At Elland Road, Leeds United launched their new Pavilion Suite able to accommodate 800 delegates and at Headingley Stadium a new 36-bed Lodge Hotel now complements the existing conference facilities. Developments will continue apace in 2003 with the £120m Clarence Dock development; including 200-bed hotel, 250-bed Bewley's Hotel and 187-bed Park Plaza Hotel all due to open. Weetwood Hall Conference Centre & Hotel will increase their conference rooms from 25 to 40. Getting to Leeds is now even easier with the refurbishment of Leeds Station. The transformed station can now handle almost twice the number of trains as previously. Also, during 2002; Leeds Bradford International Airport, just 8 miles from the city centre, re-introduced daily flights to London Gatwick, new services to Cork and Bristol and additional flights to Amsterdam. |
